Viagra Uses?
The prescription Viagra is used to treat male impotence. It does
this by increasing the bodys response to sexual stimulation
and allowing a natural erection to occur. Sometimes Viagra may
be prescribed for other situations. Discuss any questions with
your doctor.
Viagra Directions
The standard dose for men just beginning to take Viagra is 50-100
mg. Smaller 25 mg doses are used with older patients. Viagra
can be taken with or without a meal. If you take a pill with a
high fat meal, it will be absorbed more slowly, which means it
will take longer to be effective. You can crush or cut the pills
as needed to take them. Viagra should only be taken once a day,
and should not be taken every day unless your doctor approves
it. Viagra works best when swallowed one hour before sexual stimulation,
but will generally be effective between half an hour and four
hours. The medication in Viagra improves blood flow, which allows
you to achieve and maintain natural erections. Viagra is not an
aphrodisiac and does not contain any hormones. The pills will
not automatically cause an erection. Viagra is effective for almost
all men who take it. Studies have found that 4 out of 5 men experienced
better erections with Viagra. The medication is effective no matter
how serious the erectile dysfunction is or how long you have struggled
with it. Viagra can be effective very quickly. For some it works
in as little as 30 minutes, but its possible effects can last
as long as four hours. Take a pill once a day when you want to
have sex.
Viagra Side Effects
Viagra should not be taken at the same time as grapefruit
juice. The combination can cause unpleasant side effects. A few
men who use Viagra develop congestion, dry eyes, or altered vision
(blue tint or haze) while using the medication. Some of the mild
side effects possible include indigestion, flushing, headache,
light sensitivity, rash, and the inability to distinguish between
blue and green. Let your doctor know if any of these effects are
bothersome or ongoing. Serious possible side effects are seizures,
arrhythmia, decreased blood flow to the heart, heart attack, priapism
(prolonged and painful erection), blood sugar problems (in patients
with history of diabetes), swelling or redness of the eyes, or
temporary blindness. If you experience any of these effects, go
to the emergency room immediately. For Viagra to be used safely,
your doctor must know if you have ever had a heart attack; sickle
cell anemia; irregular heartbeats; heart, kidney, or liver disease;
bleeding disorder; multiple myeloma; leukemia; angina; a stroke;
high or low blood pressure; conditions affecting the shape of
the penis (e.g., angulation, cavernosal fibrosa, or Peyronie's
disease); or retinitis pigmentosa.
Viagra Warnings
Viagra has been tested in more than 120 controlled studies (completed
and ongoing) including over 8,800 men. Through these studies and
its real-world experience, Viagra has been shown to have a strong
safety profile. Viagra has helped more than 16 million men around
the world improve their sex lives. VIAGRA is the #1 prescribed
medicine for ED in the US. If you are taking medicine for high
blood pressure, you should know that, of the nearly 10 million
men in the US who have taken Viagra, more than 1 million of them
have also taken medicines for high blood pressure. Like many medications,
Viagra is not a suitable treatment for all individuals. Death
may result from certain drug interactions with Viagra, do not
take any medication in conjunction with this treatment that has
not been approved by your prescribing physician. If you are having
surgery, including dental surgery, tell your doctor or dentist
that you take Viagra. Tell your doctor if you use amyl nitrate,
amyl nitrite, or butyl nitrate.
Viagra Drug Interactions
Viagra can lead to potentially life threatening drug interactions,
so you must tell your doctor about every medication or over the
counter product you are using. Once you are regularly using Viagra,
check with your doctor before beginning any new medication. Drugs
that require extra vigilance are include ), isosorbide (Imdur,
Ismo, Isordil, and others), nitroglycerin (Nitro-Bid, Nitrostat,
and others), any other medications to treat impotence, cimetidine
(Tagamet, Tagamet HB), rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane), saquinavir
(Invirase), amlodipine (Norvasc) or other medications for high
blood pressure, itraconazole (Sporanoxphenobarbital, ketoconazole
(Nizoral), ritonavir (Norvir), erythromycin, and vitamins.
Viagra Missed Dose
Viagra is not a medication that is taken on a regular schedule.
If you miss a dose you simply do not experience the beneficial
factors associated with Viagra.
Viagra Storage
Viagra is to be kept at room temperature and in a place
free of moisture and excessive sunlight. Do not store near a sink
or in the bathroom, to avoid moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Discard any pills that have passed their expiration date.
Anything Else I Should Know About Viagra
Viagra causes improved blood flow leading to an erection.
It does this by enhancing the response to nitric oxide and thereby
relaxing the muscles inside the penis. Viagra is intended to overcome
erectile dysfunction, but does not directly cause an erection.
